I'm not promoting this site anywhere, really. I think I may have linked it to a few youtube videos so far and I've posted one link to a comment section in Ab Iratos' Fakeologist. Other than that, I haven't done anything. Yet I'm seeing 100 hits a day.
There are very few people that care about the technical aspects of the real world.
ReplyDeleteThere are "flat-earthers" and "concave-earthers" that care a lot about "what is in the sky", and it is still very difficult to explain "exactly".
Your analysis of the "real distances" of the world is very interesting, and in fact causes a lot of problems to anyone who thinks it is "easy" to understand the true shape of the world.
Good job: continue...
Enter your comment... Speaking of the difficulty of this mission, take a look at my latest post in particular where a software company has simulated Antarctica for their videogame-- and as expert as THEY are in dealing with data-- THEY found the task difficult and explain partly why...

Would you have any idea why Eric Dubay would have blocked me from his forum for posting to it on this topic? I posted no links to this blog since I hadn't even started it yet. In fact, I was partly motivated to do my own blog because of my ban there.

ReplyDeleteI saw your comments "Rick's Flat Earth Proof" on Fakeologist.
Before that, I didn't even know that "flat earth" was a subject that was "relaunched" seriously sometime in 2015.
Would you have any idea why Eric Dubay would have blocked me from his forum for posting to it on this topic?
The "blocking" or banning has nothing to do with you or what you wrote.
I had to understand what all these forums on "flat earth" are
1) There was a very old forum, by Flat Earth Society:
http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/
It seems to have been relaunched in 2013.
The forum was maintained by "professional shills" that make fun of flat earth !
Why not, after all, flat earth was not really popular before 2015...
2) Eric Dubay created his forum in March 2015, apparently against the controlled opposition of Flat Earth Society:
http://ifers.boards.net/thread/2/welcome-international-earth-research-society
3) Acenci is a "remarkable" forum poster, that likes to "summarize" what various video contain, and to analyse the "psychology" of members.
He was banned from the forum of Eric Dubay.
It was the beginning of a wave of "banning" of a lot of people from the forum of Eric Dubay.
They went to this forum, "Our world":
http://serendipitous.boards.net/thread/8/freshly-banned
4) Acenci had a clash with the admin of the "Our world" forum.
A lot of the "newcomers" to "Our world" then created two new forums in May 2015:
- Flat Earth Sanctuary:
http://anti-globe.boards.net/
- Empathy Way of unity:
http://empathy-way.freeforums.net/
5) Acenci deleted his own account and left "Flat Earth Sanctuary":
http://anti-globe.boards.net/thread/183/where-acenci
It seems the latest forums "Flat Earth Sanctuary" and "Empathy Way of Unity" will continue...
Continue writing on your blog !
All these new blogs on flat earth are like "Dallas", big psychodramas.
Your posts on Antarctica would be "lost" among less serious posts, on these forums.
Your blog is already a "reference" for Antarctica.
I think you could expand the scope of your blog with your analysis of distances
When you feel like "making a pause" on Antarctica.
Like you did at first on Fakeologist.
I think there are not enough "examples" of distances between cities in the world:
- by air (already done to, but not enough)
- by car
- by boat ?
There are also maybe analysis of surface area of countries do do.
The "flat-earthers" don't analyze the distances enough
It is somewhat astonishing to suddenly see so many "professional shills" speaking about flat earth.
ReplyDeleteThey speak about a lot of concepts "theoretically".
Somehow, as long as nobody really measures distances between cities, we can't be sure about it !
Antarctica is a big clue about the true distances.
Tables of "real" distances between other cities in the world would help a lot, with real examples.
It seems the explanations about "the flat earth sky" are not good enough
It seems the "things in the sky": what and where are the sun, the moon, the stars, will be a far more difficult subject to understand than previously thought.
Eric Dubay and a few serious others are still "beginners", and there are a lot of problems in their explanations of the "things in the sky".
"Concave-earthers" like Wild Heretic, Steven Christopher and the "old" Cyrus Teed are more advanced, with the light that really seems "bending".
But it now seems that the earth is a "disc" (maybe not flat, still with a curvature, like a bowl ?), and "concave-earthers" would have to "adapt" their explanations of the "things in the sky" to a "disc-shaped earth"...
Continue your blog on Antarctica and the "real distances" as a real reference
It is essential: before looking in the sky, it would be better to first be sure that earth is "disc-shaped" !
You did a good analysis with Antarctica and the distances between a few cities.
The readers of your blog and the people who really want to know the "reality" of the shape of the earth need "more" explanations about these subjects.
So, I look forward to your blog, and I suppose that more and more people will come, if you also extend your blog with examples of "real distances" between cities, by air, by car, and so on...
Your post didn't make it here because it was too big so I broke it up into 3 parts. The distance problem struck me suddenly when I was measuring the true distance between Perth an Sydney vs. San Diego and Atlanta-- the first two at 33 S and the last two at 33N. They should be the same. I got to where I was measuring miles per degree longitude. I kept coming up with a variance in the south of a significant percent-- especially when I took bloggers' adventures into account vs the online calculators. I still might be wrong on those early attempts. I could be fooling myself. I'm not a math expert and I sometimes have a beer while doing these numbers-- which is not helpful to the numbers. I found a video that convinced me Antarctica is key to the flat earth and decided to use the new internets to explore it with bing image search, youtube vids and other sources to travel around the perimeter. It is turning out to be harder than I imagined-- despite the amount of money and effort being spent in Antarctica. Now we're at a crossroads. I have to either a) give up beer and get the numbers right or b) give up beer and get the numbers right. Either way, beer is out of the picture. I can't bring myself to that point yet. I KNOW I haven't got the numbers right. But neither could the software company with way more resources than me that created that simulator. I might get the simulator and try to get friendly with that company. Or not. It's "exasperating" as my lady friend claims "I" am vis a vis her. Thanks for your ongoing posts and that explanation.
