Antarctica simulator is a strange piece of software.

I tried to ignore this silly software in previous weeks because it interefered with my google searches for real situations. However, this morning I guess I'll post it here as part of my study-- even though it's quite clear that they've simulated an island Antarctica and not a rim version as you would find on flat earth. The effort gone into this is substantial and they SAY they've got accurate data. The following video is just a trailer. The company that created it is Aerosoft. Antarctica X (FSX+FSX SE+P3D) http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd,,12123

Note what Aerosoft reports on their website about their Antarctic data collection. It reminds me of my own problems as I work on this blog trying to determine the circumference.

quote

A major problem for this project was getting access to the

data as there are so many countries involved and many feel

the geographical data has strategic importance. Only after the

developer got into contact with pilots and scientists who were

actually in Antarctica things started to move forwards.

Dozens of databases had to be combined and often these

only existed in the paper format and had to be manually

digitized. Often databases conflicted and details had to be

found elsewhere

Getting the aviation related information was easier but

even here it was hard to find out what the real pilots are

using..

The respective organizations and pilots usually prefer to keep

that information to themselves because (fuel/food/emergency-

) supplies are very limited and therefore they don’t like anyone

who’s not part of their select company to fly there. Without

aviation there would hardly be people in Antarctica.

Hi, I'm Captain Rick of the Virtual Circumference Voyage of Antarctica. I intend to prove definitively if Earth is flat or a sphere by paying careful attention to how many miles we cover as we travel "around" Antarctica. Flat earth theory says it's 50-60,000 miles. Spherical Earth theory says it 14,000 miles. Join me and ask any questions that you think would help our mission.
