Earlier, I cut a map of Antarctica out of a piece of paper, sliced it into 8 sections and then flipped them around 180 degrees so that the outside perimeter became the inside perimeter. It worked okay for a conceptual result but my original map's coastline was not very detailed. Nor was my flip very accurate since I was doing it with paper and scissors. Rick Potvin's Virtual Circumnavigation of Antarctica to Decide if Earth is Global or Flat: Geometry of inversion of Antarctica from island to ice plain
Lo and behold-- this morning after waking up too early and not being able to sleep, I did some surfing on "bubble level" and "flat earth" (working on another idea) and found a surveyor's map that seems to be a highly detailed and accurate version of my previous concept. They used tools more sophisticated than I did and came up with an interesting looking result-- along with the addition of ocean currents to boot.
I paste their results here only as an initial effort but I now intend to update my updated 1898 Gleason azimuthal projection with the research stations as before Rick Potvin's Virtual Circumnavigation of Antarctica to Decide if Earth is Global or Flat: Gleason Map Update-- only now with the more accurate coastline of the Antarctic rim. This will have never been done before. I will have been the first to integrate the surveyor's ocean current azimuthal projection WITH the Gleason map AND with the research stations of our modern era. For now, here is the projection with my source links to get started. I'll index this map under "surveyor's projection" for readers' future reference.
Is a flat earth circular?

UPDATE: I've erased the inner map using a paint program leaving only the the shoreline of the Antarctica Rim of Flat Earth.
UPDATE: Here's a poor quality but conceptually interesting overlay of the 1895 Gleason map with my updated station locations combined with the surveyor's map.
Here's an earlier non-labelled rim map I found somewhere-- sorry about not sourcing it exactly-- it's commonly popping up on flat earth searches. It compares favorably with my new find of the surveyor's map above although the new one does seem to have much more detail.
Hey Captain Rick, I find this absolutely fascinating and can't wait to hear about and see your results. When do you plan to make the trek and how long do you expect it to take if the earth is flat?
ReplyDeleteHi Anon-- It's really just a virtual circumnavigation I'm carrying out here. I'm gathering data and blogging on it here to see if I can conduct the mission from my desktop in my house in Arizona. I'd hate to actually have to go out there and conduct a "live" mission. I suppose I could do the live mission at some point-- what with today's high tech modern hardware and communications. Let me give that one some more thought. For now, as I say, it's a virtual trip... a kind of "flat earth porn" rather than the real thing.
ReplyDeleteHey Rick,
ReplyDeleteAt first impression, I really think you MAY have hit something hugely significant. I am still shaken at the power of the projection.
It is a map projection, designed to show the behavior of ocean currents... but it is not necessarily, unlike the Azimuthal Equidistant, a globe earth map at all, because it seems to work well on its own with that shape.
Lots to think about and search. Sparked my curiosity and imagination.
Thanks,
Armunn Righ
Rick,
ReplyDeleteIf you decide to do this.
Lookme up if you need a first mate !
I figure a team, financed through an online fundraising site, that hires an experience ice breaker and crew-- would be research of the first order. Maybe I should start taking actual names and experience. A lot of people have visited this forum. I'll think about formalizing things over coming weeks and months. In the new Trump era, we might be able to do something with this this and prove the distance one way or another. Do YOU have a website?
ReplyDeleteIt is illegal to go below the 60 parrelel without govt/un approval. They have shoot to kill authority if you do so, although the last guy who tried is in a Chilean prison. They know the earth is flat and if that got out it would completely galvanize the populace against them as we would see clearly the deception, who is behind it and why. There is a 3.3 billion dollar multi national military force with deadly force authorization there. Why? If it's just penguins and ice?! = Because it is proof of a Creator.
DeleteYeah, I already cancelled my trip south of 60 and decided to sail around just north of 60 instead. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing is just crazy = Flat Earth, who would have seen that coming! I mean looking back, I'm 50, and I can see how they 'moved' over that time to deceive. It's been there all along, they just play on our willingness to trust and cooperate.
DeleteThanks for sharing, nice post! Post really provice useful information!
