Here's a slightly expanded flat earth illustration with many coastline stations and a few interior stations with mileages taken from other sources. The mileages are obviously not correct on a flat earth but I install them here as a point of interest and further investigation. It's been said ALL trips to the south pole start in McMurdo-- which is a testable claim. If true, then the diagram below makes sense. Just as with those videos that show how international non stop flights make more sense on a flat earth than a globe, so too, I hope to make sense of the reports from airports and stations in Antarctica-- in the context of a flat earth Antarctica that spreads outward indefinitely. The fact that the Antarctic Treaty has NOT developed the 1968-1971 idea of an Antarctic transportation network is a primary reference point for me now. That level of cooperation would have made it easy to travel from station to station proving the distance is 60,000 miles, not 8000 miles. As it is, I have to gather my flight information piecemeal.
The Antarctic Plain expands outward indefinitely into the gray area. Elevation rises, oxygen thins and it's all uncharted as we move outward. Speculation by Math Boylan points to more "earth ponds" just like the one we're in, as illustrated above. The UNCLAIMED ZONE might be explained by the fact that there are no LAND AREAS of continental EARTH reaching down toward that shoreline as we see south of South American, South Africa and Australia. It bulges outward as well-- making it even MORE remote and inaccessible-- not worth the trouble.
TOYOTA TRUCKS DRIVE FROM NOVO TO SOUTH POLE?
Felix pointed to this "race" in the comments below raising questions about it's authenticity. I looked a bit further into it. It turns out that the trips to the supposed "interior" of Antarctica will be very useful in determining the true diameter of the island because multiple points of reference from the coast to the interior can be used to triangulate a coastal distance. There are more trips to the interior documented than trips on the perimeter between stations.
Take a look at the topographical map beside the route map of the island of Antarctica below-- without reference even to a flat earth Antarctica map. The elevations go from 0 to 15,000 feet, they say. So we're supposed to believe Toyota trucks can carry supplies and fuel to traverse mountains in 8 days to the south pole? No. I don't think so. Study the maps below for yourself. This "race" is apparently sponsored by a Swiss Antarctic group. They run it every few years.
Sure it was. They landed on the moon too. And 9/11 hijackers used boxcutters and brought down the trade centers by crashing planes into them. Yup. It's all true-- if you're willing to believe it to be true. Them Toyota 4 Wheel Drive veeHickles went up and down over the ice and snow of the most trecherous and coldest terrain on the planet... and back again-- several times-- without incident. Yup. Uh huh.

What about scientific research being carried out in other areas near airports where larger wheeled planes land and take off?

Information ALE. More than 20 years ago Adventure Network International (ANI) made history by establishing a blue-ice runway at Patriot Hills and flying tourists into the interior of Antarctica. ALE purchased ANI in 2003 and continued to develop and improve operations in that same pioneering spirit. ALE has now completed a four year process to assess and certify a new runway that will improve flight reliability and open up new frontiers for exploration.
ALE is pleased to announce the inauguration of our new blue-ice runway and re-furbished camp at Union Glacier (79° 45'S 083° 14'W), 70 km north-west of Patriot Hills.
Union Glacier Blue-Ice Runway (SCGC) has been inspected and is a fully certified runway that can take intercontinental jets from South America. Proving flights were successfully undertaken by ALE's Ilyushin in December 2009 and January 2010. ALE's first passenger flight from Punta Arenas, Chile to SCGC will take place mid-November 2010 at the start of our 2010 Antarctic season.
After much research, ALE identified Union Glacier as a potential landing site in 2006. Two seasons of weather data was gathered and detailed surveys carried out on the blue-ice runway to determine its suitability for landing heavy aircraft, before certification by the Chilean Civil Aviation Authorities in November 2008.
ALE's new, into-wind runway will allow us to offer a more predictable flight schedule; less likelihood of delays to our programs; and enhanced logistic support in Antarctica. Henceforth, intercontinental flights will operate into SCGC. Patriot Hills will remain as our secondary runway in Antarctica.

All approaches to the Area should be made along a route approximately 204° east of grid north to avoid restricted sectors. Access to the Area is usually by ski-equipped fixed-wing aircraft, but may be by overland vehicle traverse. Occasional access to the Area is made
by helicopter, on foot, or by ski. Entry into the Area is permissible, but notification must be given to the National Program(s) operating in the Area prior to entering the Area, and specific requirements are provided below for access to the area via aircraft.
Use of wheeled aircraft on the ski-way or an airplane crash would have substantial deleterious impacts on the scientific research being conducted in the Area and threaten the safety of all personnel in the Area.

We are about 50 km from the corner (88:40 South and 20 West) we need to go to, to go around the protected zone. From there we can follow the line 20W until we reach 89:41S. Then we will need to drive along the 89:41 until we reach 156W approaching the South Pole from the other side. We have now left the skiers but they don‘t have to go as much around this area as the cars do. We will go around and wait for them to arrive at the 89:41 S / 20 W. [156W=204E]
What is the rationale for the 20W entry?
Furthermore, despite all the precautions about not leaving any rubbish in Antarctica, there must be stacks of fuel dumps which have been lost under snow, surely? From the same blogpost:
There is a new issue now, the two airplanes coming from Novo to the South Pole to pick up the competitors will need assistance back at the fuel drop to help with the refueling. It looks like it now that the cars are the only option to pick up the barrels which are many scattered around and buried deep in the snow. With the crane the cars can pull these barrels out and bring them to the airplanes.

Gisli and Kenny are already well on their way to the fuel drop, it‘s an 8-900 km drive for them. They will try to be there tomorrow morning but if weather allows, the first flight to the South Pole will take of from Novo tomorrow morning to pick up most of the competitors. The plane will land at the fuel drop and needs 20 barrels of fuel to continue to the South Pole. The flight each way will take about 10 hours calculating 2.5 hours in refueling of the plane but the plane has to refuel at the fuel drop each way The second flight to pick up the rest of the competitors, the BBC film crew and the Norwegian film crew is scheduled the 28th. We expect getting new rear axles with this flight. Again Gisli and Kenny will need to have fuel ready for them as well. Once all the competitors have left we will change the axles in the two cars that are still here at the South Pole before driving back to Novo. Gisli and Kenny will wait for us at the fuel drop and we will all drive together from there to Novo.
A team of four Toyota Hiluxs have completed a trip of over 5000km from Novo, a Russian Scientific Station in Antarctica to the Geographic South Pole and back again, making them the first 4x4s to reach the South Pole. The return journey of 2500km from the South Pole to Novo Station was completed in a record 8 days and 17 hours.
The 4x4s departed from Novo Station on on 21st December 2008, and arrived at the South Pole on 21st January 2009. After remaining with all of the race competitors at the South Pole until their flight home arrived, the vehicles set off on the return journey at 02:00am on 30th January 2008, arriving at 1700 on 7th February 2009.
Unbelievable, just like the Apollo moon landing narrative.

I believe the shape Antarctica from the world map was a lie originally. So to create such a pond shape based from their lie would be incorrect theoretically. And your point where the south pole is, suggests that Antarctica (not including any infinite sheet space)... suggests that Antarctica is 2-3x larger than the entire flat earth mass. Plus if your worked for NASA and were in the blood oath, Luciferian, Masonic rankings or any kind your only ability to tell us anything would be as a shill...as the rest The Onnit guy, Alex Jones, etc..who claim to be ex this and that, and tell us everything except the Flat Earth. I feel this another law of reversal trick where we are once again seen as infinite and insignificant. And for my last observation, the bases in majority, clearly along the ring, is a great indication of limited space. Naturally these bases would be scattered across the plane.
