Suspicious looking photos may point to hoax.


FAKE PHOTOS? FAKE JOURNEY?

In my continuing monitering of the Swiss Polar Institute's [SPI] "Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition" [ACE], I've noted that their internet information output is rather thin. Nowhere is this more notable than on their twitter feed. There is no hard data-- only "soft porn" dealing with people-pictures, some scenery and plants and animals.

It's a bit tricky to figure out which posts are the latest posts on this twitter feed. If you scroll down a bit, you get to the posts that are hours old. This latest photo APPEARS TO ME TO BE PHOTOSHOPPED and in a very very SLOPPY manner. WHAT are we looking at here??
Why is the foreground light blue as seen above? It appears to be a photoshopped cartoon. In the background, the top of the glacier is a similar light blue. They're claiming that this is Mertz Glacier. How would anyone have obtained this photo even IF it were Mertz Glacier? It appears to be taken from ON TOP of the ice in the foreground. Do they have a helicopter?

They are tracked as having been at 46S on Jan. 23 2017 in the Tasman Sea-- ?
Now, 46S is well north of Antarctica-- actually that's Hobart, south of Australia as well as South Africa. Both are 46S. Tasman Sea is between Australia and New Zealand.

The route from South Africa to Hobart actually is not very far south at all-- certainly not part of a circumnavigation of Antarctica in my opinion.... unless we call all that other shipping activity a partial circumnavigation too.

Why is the bottom right blurry?
What is the black line? Why is it blurry and dark in the middle? Seeing photos like this is discouraging to say the least. It's anomalous at very best.

Easy-to-read list of 50 SAI-ACE mission scientists not available

I'm having to pluck the names of scientists on the SAI-ACE mission aboard the ATreshnikov out of articles and papers one by one. I haven't found an easy to read list with easy to click links with their current blogs, papers and positions. It's probably more work than I can do to verify their existence-- or if they exist, to confirm they're on board the ship. One I looked at tonight was Steven Chown.

Chown is not listed at this university, Stellenbosch, where he is said to have been. I might not be looking in the right place and I could very well be mistaken with regard to WHEN he was there. I can't find his name here....

NOTICE how the U of Stellenbosch doesn't have its own URL-- that the listing for the personnel is found on a site with a URL titled "academic.sun.ac.za" etc. That doesn't seem right to me. There are  LOT of academics in the departement-- too many actually. A direct link to "acadmic.sun.ac.za" produced a 403-- ACCESS DENIED. Hmmm. Odd indeed.

He is listed at Monash U. but his research papers are not listed. A book and awards are mentioned. I found the book on Amazon.

At his apparent homepage, Chown lists his publications. For example...

Chown is listed as author of a paper he reports published but I haven't yet confirmed that Chown is on board the ATreshnikov, however... or that the Treshnikov is actually where it is claimed. Anyone could have picked up Chown's bio and cut and pasted it onto a Treshnikov mission review or article. I'd have to write to him and see if he's actually on board. I have not seen a group photo with Chown in it yet-- to my memory. I don't recall a list of pictures of scientists on board this mission. It would seem to me to be an easy thing to do. 












Does the ACE mission even exist? Hard data is absent.

The ATreshnikov should be between Mertz Glacier and Bellany Islands right now. I don't know who exactly the crew running the ship are but it is Russian-- after all it's their ship. No captain name or crew name is apparent which strikes me as odd.  There are no photos of anyone with ACE and the crew members together. I did NOT see any evidence that anyone at the nearest RESEARCH STATON Concordia or Dumont were aware or cared about the nearness of the ACE mission to their facility. I've determined that Dumont D'Urville station has an ice breaker research ship as well called.... I found this nice close up of the Treshnikov

Yesterday, Jan. 29, 2017, Treshnikov was very near the coast, likely at Mertz Glacier and headed to the Balleny Islands.

Here's a more detailed map of the location. You can clearly see Mertz, Dumont and the Bellany Islands. 


Despite no evidence that this mission even exists, say with a photo of the Russian crew of Treshnikov and the participants in Swiss Polar Institute's "Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition" pictured together, they DO have a Twitter feed going.

This is the latest photo they issued. This could have been taken anywhere. There is no ice in the background despite the fact that they're supposed to be near Mertz. Maybe they've left that ice area by now. I've only cross referenced one scientist so far-- and that led to a dead end where I could not verify that they came from the University they claimed. The guy below has no references posted that allows me to verify his existence yet either. This NEW angle on the mission-- that I cannot verify anyone or anything or any position-- is consistent with numerous hoaxes being run over the years in regards to a lot of things in the news including 9/11, satellites and nuclear power and specifically solo crossings of Antarctica and the Vendee Races. Seen in this fakery context, it would not surprise me that a team of people are operating a fake Antarctica circumnavigation mission with green screens and fake people. I'm not convinced that this mission is occurring yet.

Here's a satellite photo (or an aerial photo) of the DDU Dumont D'urville situation on the coast, a reference point for roughly the location of Treshnikov over the past few days-- to the left or I suppose the east of that. If you can distinguish the clouds from the ice, you might agree with me that there's plenty of ice in the water. No twitter post or blog post from 160 scientists on board yields photos like the following that I obtained from an independent site.(lost my link but will try to find again)

Treshnikov approaching Antarctica coast at Mertz.


The Treshnikov is on the second leg of their circumnavigation seen in ORANGE dotted lines below. Leg one is in YELLOW. The trip from Hobart, Australia was the transition point. As you can see below on my modified Gleason projection map, the mission is between 150 and 165 E longitude and headed south of what I think is the 60 deg S latitude line toward McMurdo/Scott-- McMurder being the biggest research station on Antarctica-- and the gateway to the South Pole Rim-- at 90 Deg S. "inland" from the rim on the flat earth.


Here is another of my attempts to overlay someone's flat earth projection with some extra information to give context...

My positioning of the stations is inaccurate since I'm eyeballing it. And the coast line is only a rough approximation. You can see Australia/Hobart on the right, with Scott south of it. The LIGHT GREEN light was my earlier attempt to draw a freehand route of the Treshnikov. The AQUA line is the wide circumnavigation and the RED line is the shorter route around the world that a cheater would take. My interest in looking at this part of the map is that the Treshnikov is no EN ROUTE from Australia toward McMurdo on its second leg. It's interesting to note that there are no plans to rendezvous at Scott or McMurdo despite all parties being involved in research. Note the location of the South Pole as well. 


Here's a clearer picture of the section of Gleason map where the Treshnikov says it is right now, without the research stations. Scott station would be on the PENINSULA that sticks out on the left labelled "SOUTH VICTORIA LAND" and McMurdo would be located on land inside the BAY created by the PENINSULA.



The South Polar Institute's map of their own mission lacks the research station locations and labels and my own locations for those are inaccurately place on the flat earth projections above. All I can do at the moment is approximate where all of these elements are. I'll try to tighten up accuracy as we go. Note that the second leg of the mission is headed to Macquarie Island, then to Mertz and so on. I'll watch for those place names on other maps I review in coming days.

This section of the radar map shows Zucchelli Station and McMurdo Station. I believe the New Zealand station Scott would be to the right of 160 E longitude.  I don't know what all the radar stations are for. They say they're measuring earthquakes with them. I'm not even sure that that makes sense. I thought earthquakes were measured with seismographs.

Note the location of the BALLENY ISLANDS above since the Swiss Polar Institute's ACE mission has put those islands on their itinerary. Note SCOTT STATION is no located on the map from this 1983 INSPECTION TOUR.  Note that you can see CASEY STATION in the top right.  Note the DATE LABELS as the points of rendezvous. Note the 1983 Inspection tour BEGAN on Jan. 21 at McMurdo whereas the TRESHNIKOV is travelling in the opposite direction. Note the location of the SOUTH MAGNETIC POLE because the Treshnikov is now headed there where there is also located MERTZ Island-- not seen in the above map but located of the ADELIE COAST.

Yet another map I overlayed with more data- this one of the miles between research stations. Note the location of SCOTT and McMURDO-- right next to each other-- so they can be regarded as the SAME locatdion. Note we have something that looks like HALLEY north of that. I'm not sure what that is yet-- although it looks like some sort of station.  On the Swiss Polar Institute's ACE map we see this....

It looks like what was LENINGRATSKIA is south of BALLENY. It also looks like the route of Treshnikov is OFF THE COAST NORTH OF HALLEY above, and that Treshnikov will visit BALLENY and SCOTT islands but not venture into the bay toward McMURDO and SCOTT STATION.  There are no reearch stations on Balleny and Scott Islands so it will be difficult to verify that the Treshnikov docked at either one. It's difficult to say if they will dock or send in inflatables. 


Note that previous missions that claim circumnavigations cut wildly north after rounding Australia. Note that you can see the peninsula justting out on the maps above that indicates the rough location of McMurdo Station. I'm not sure if the red line defining the short cut in the maps above would be enough of a short cut off a flat earth circumference of 60,000 miles to be possible however. These may be wildly inaccurate but I'm just going with what's available and interpreted by others given what we think we know.

It appears as though the Treshnikov is near the coast and the South Magnetic Pole, Mertz Island AND.... 


....AND the DUMONT d'URVILLE station.  Note that the 1983 Inspection Tour was off the ADELIE COAST on January 28 as well! Quite a coincidence that the Treshnikov is off the ADELIE COAST on Jan 28-- same date. The last update to the ship's position on SHIPSPOTTING.com was over a month ago so its impossible to verify location right now.

Anyone can see that the map from IRIDIUM, two images above, is simple compared to the 1983 map immediately above. If you listen to the description of how IRIDIUM works, you'll be as baffled as I became with the jibberish.

Note that Dumont is to the west of MERTZ.... that Treshnikov was very close to Dumont but did not station there. I looked at the KEY for the symbols and the 3 SQUARES in the red square to the left of PRUDHOMEE is a "camp". 




There isn't much detail as we zoom in closer. Note that Dumont appears close to where Treshnikov wants to be-- Mertz. 


It appears as though it might be easy to dock at Dumont D'urville since it's right on the coast with open water. The Wikipedia article above refers to the several supply ships that make round trips from Hobart during the southern hemisphere summer. It's a well populated research station.

Among the 21 photos at the link above, we have this one with stars. Someone who know stars could possible check dates and star positions to see if they're consistent with what we think we know star positions are. The Treshnikov has not delivered any star pictures yet.

I'm in contact with the Treshnikov now en-route around Antarctica

I found a Facebook page where the Treshnikov crew of SPI-ACE people post videos and updates so I asked a question in comments-- "How can we independently verify location coordinates?".

It's be interesting to see anyone answer. Frankly, I don't think they're doing a circumnavigation. There are no coordinates published on any map I can find and even if they were travelling roughly in the area they say they are, there are no photos of the stars to verify location at night. The entire thing is possibly a hoax like the solo-crossings of Antarctica or the Vendee races south of 60 degrees latitude.

It now appears that Swiss Antarctica Institutes ACE taking shortcut too.


A few days ago, I decided I would at least think about going on a trip around Antarctica myself and as I looked into that, I concluded I would need to charter a cruise ship. In searching for the cruise ship operators who could do either a 15,000 or 60,000 mile trip, I ran across Quark of course-- who claim to do multi-ship circumnavigations but also was reminded of the current mission by the large research vessel Treshnykov, currently sailing on its' second leg on it's own circumnavigation. The Swiss Antarctica Institute's "Akademic Trishnakov" research vessel has about 160 people on board,  is currently on the second leg of circumnavigation of Antarctica. Following are my earlier reports on this research-cruise, then an update for today.

UPDATE Jan. 25, 2017
After reviewing some of my own earlier work on the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition by Paulsen under his Swiss Antarctica Institute, I no longer believe that it'll be useful in determining the circumference of Antarctica as rim or island. Their reporting on the internet is not giving me real ship coordinates and elapsed time, latitudes, longitudes, star maps etc. with which I can verify their journey's route. It's too easy for them to take short cuts similar to a number of other solo-sailboat journey's around the world. Here is Paulsen's SWI/ACE route....





The same route, as accurately as I can freehand draw it, on the Gleason projection with my added research stations is as follows....
YELLOW = leg 1
ORANGE = leg 2 now underway
RED = leg 3
The reader will notice that the short cut is easy to see-- that Paulsen is quite possible not close enough the the Antarctica short to qualify as a true circumnavigation of Antarctica as advertised in the name "Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition" or ACE suggests. The yellow-orange-red line is not 1/4 the length, however, of the outside 60,000 mile rim of the shores of Antarctica. Eyeballing it, it might be over half, or 30,000 miles. It appears he has already travelled 1/3 of the way around or 10,000 miles-- in one month or 300 miles a day. or 12 miles per hour non stop. These numbers are guesstimates that are quite likely off quite a bit-- but useful for my current thinking in general terms in orders- of-magnitude.


Here's another view of the mission where the AQUA line is the preferred route for my purpose, the GREEN line seems to be Paulsen's route and the RED line would be a real cheater's route.
 The RED line, the cheater's route is likely at least half or under half the length of the AQUA line, the true circumnavigation route. A true mission would check in with the research stations or at least arrange to be PINGED by the radar stations around Antarctica for verification of location. 

Here are a few of the sailors who have apparently sailed around the world at higher latitudes than Paulsen, and what their routes look like on a top down projection of flat earth...

Another fairly disturbing aspect of the Paulsen mission is his website's use of a locator website that ostensibly shows where his boat is located currently in real time....

 
As the reader notes, there's not a lot of information there. There is no latitude, longitude for example. There are no radar stations. This map is about as bad as something you might find in a children's book or a comic book. Note the difference and what's possible with sections of the Gleason Map of the same location below...



Note the detail possible over a hundred years ago in terms of coordinates and place names. One would think that Paulsen's mission with 100 academics aboard would be able to find the time and resources to properly map their voyage consistent with standards set by today's military and mappers 100 years ago. But nope, we got a red pin on cartoon blue map. It's actually fairly insulting to anyone who might have decided to follow their mission. 

Finally, I quickly hand drew via eyeballing Paulsen's route on a polar projection of Antarctica to compare a true circumnavigation route with his route. The ORANGE line seems like it would be 2X as long as the YELLOW line, a tighter circumnavigation I would need for my purpose. Given that the Treshnikov is an icebreaker, I wonder if I can sell Paulsen on the idea of giving his trip another go around in the tighter YELLOW line route to verify distance.






























The 1983 inspection tour route is more representative of what I'd like to see conducted today under full observation by crew and internet social media. We need to conduct a repeat of the 1983 route.

Treshnikov's circumnavigation in progress sets example for my future cruise ship circumnavigation.



In my last entry (indexed below under Rick's Tour -1), I initiated my own physical circumnavigation on the day of Trump's inaugeration. Trump is a possible flat-earther as I note below. Today, in my study of cruise ships going around Antarctica, I covered Quark Expeditions and an update on the Treshnikov's mission-- which has now completed its first leg and for which I've made posts in the past under index item "ACE" or "Treshnikov" or "Swiss Polar Institute". 

I think the best way to circumnavigate Antarctica is in cruise-ship comfort and style. I'm amazed by the unending trend of bigger and fancier cruise ships and I continue to wonder who are the people who can take time off and spend money on these trips-- which all seem pointless to me. The only trip that I see that could possibly interest me is one in which the route proves that the distance around Antarctica is consistent with a globe or plane. For that, I will have to charter my own cruise ship. I suppose I'll have to be the Commander with a hired Captain since I don't know how to sail. I can tell the Captain where to go and how fast or slow, however.

The biggest cruise ship company I've discovered that runs Antarctica tours is Quark Expeditions. I've read their site in the past and have been disappointed, however, since all their trips are short and partial shoreline trips. Despite having advanced ships and touring the right part of the world, they don't seem to have the level of intelligence to conceptualize a complete circumnavigation like the Vendee hoaxers... er-- racers do. I've emailed their contact people about such a trip and I get nothing but flaccid and uncommitted pasty answers couched in corporatese politeness and invitations to one of their stupid partial trips. It's like talking to piece of rubber.

Upon further searching Reference 1., I found this...

I seriously doubt that there is a full circumnavigation available. Usually, the cruise ships and others who discuss circumnavigation are actually doing a very partial circumnavigation. And they certainly don't prove even the partial circumnavigation by docking at the docks of the Antarctic research stations and documenting their docking so that we can all enjoy the pudding of proof-- or is it the proof of the pudding? Where did that phrase come from anyway? Who proves pudding? What does that even mean?

So they're claiming that they ran the first-ever passenger trip of the Circumnavigation of Antarctica. The problem with this is that there is no further discussion of that trip and certainly no current option to do that trip. Further searching reveals a more specific reference.

The Kapitan Klebnikov looks a bit ridiculous compared to cruise ships but at least this ship claims to have done something interesting-- which few cruise ships do. There is no reference on Reference 6. link to Quark's description of the Khlebnikov tours to the 1997 voyage which they say was the first passenger circumnavigation. There doesn't seem to have been a passenger circumnavigation of Antarctica since then either.

This reference is very light weight and refers to cruising in general with no drill down on the supposed cirumnavigation in 1997.

Here we see a lot of references to a voyage I previously noted in this blog, the Swiss Polar Institute's ACE trip. I had intended to follow this trip carefully but got sidetracked by car repair and job issues in Arizona and simply don't have discretionary time and money as I once had from 2007 to 2012 and occasionally from 2012 to 2016. All I can currently do is occasional updates when I can.

An international scientific voyage, comprising 60 researchers from 30 different countries (including Argentina), has set off from South Africa on a three-month tour of the Antarctic to study the extreme environment and impact of climate change on the Southern Ocean.
This is the closest thing to what I conceive as a passenger cruise ship circumnavigation of Antarctica that is currently going on. I believe this ship is currently en route. It's not exactly what I envision however. I'd rather be on a big cruise ship with entertainment and regular people-- not neccessarily on an "academic" ship with "academics".  That way, a wider cross section of regular people can be part of flat earth history. Academics might be controlled as to what they can report. This particular Treshnikov trip by Swiss Polar Institute for example, has as it's purpose, the study of global warming, a hoax. We can't really totally trust it for that reason in my opinion.

Catching up with the Treshnikov on a google search on that term for news in the past week, I found that they'd been at sea for 30 days on Jan. 19, just a few days ago as of this blog post on Jan 22. Note that Trump was inaugerated on Jan 20. So it can be said that Trump was inaugerated a day after Treshnikov completed it's first leg of an Antarctica circumnavigation fairly close to the shores of the island of Antarctica for all intents and purposes.... certainly close enough to confirm a 15,000 or 60,000 mile perimeter consistent with a globe or plane. I began this post with a reference to Trump's enigmatic statements that might be consistent with him thinking of the earth as flat as well, recently heralded by some other flat earth writers.

Here's a nice hit (15) from the Reference 11. search on the 1 week news mode on google covering the end of the first leg of the Treshnikov's trip.  It occurs to me that the first leg must have yielded some distance information that should be useful in determining if they covered 1/3 of 15,000 miles or 1/3 of 60,000 miles. So far I have no hard ship data at all-- only soft reporting of the trip. I certainly don't have any ship coordinates and time stamps. I don't have any GPS tracking elements or satellite references-- even though satellites are fake. There just is no hard data that I personally have access to or can find on the net that confirms that this trip is even taking place. I have not collected names of participants. I cannot contact anyone on the ship. I have no sky-star data of pictures take from the ship. Nothing. Just a story and pretty pictures of wildlife.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the logo for Iridium satellites at the bottom of the page.

Given that I think satellites are fake, it seems that this might be my first clue that the entire ACE mission is fake. At least we have realtime updates of the fake mission on the ACE homepage. Here is the latest update...

The Iridium picture looks more like a computer image than a photo and when I zoom in, I end up with nothing but a red pin on a blue water cgi map with a time stamp.

This Reference 19 is the "educational" link on the ACE page. I'm not sure what the point of it is since it's in French.I can only guess at the meanings of each of the articles and pictures. It doesn't even look like it pertains precisely to the ACE mission by Swiss Antarctica Institute. I don't have time to drill down on it.

Commentary on References 24 to 28 regarding Dr. Sarah Fawcett.
Sarah Fawcett has some problems I think in the way she's presented. I've studied hoaxes like the 9/11 transmission towers disguised as buildings and the moon landing hoaxes for several years. What we look for, in an event that might be a hoax, are very simple anomalies. In Sarah's case, her name rhymes with Farah, the famous actress and her last name is the same. Sarah's photos show inconsistent body shape to my roving eye. Worst of all, her homepage has no photo of her at all. I cannot confirm her presense at U Capetown. Her news update page at "The Fawcett Lab" has one entry and has not been updated for some time.

Comment on Reference 29. We see Sarah Fawcett's name listed at UCapetown but no confirmation photo. We see an email contact and phone but just like the victims of 9/11 were fabricated, so too could Fawcett be a complete fabrication. There is no way to confirm her existence in reality. Her wordpress blog is suspicious since one would think she would publish her work on the official University of Capetown site. Anyone can create a wordpress document. I'd have to drill down further to confirm her presence at Princeton and Harvard. I don't see her CV anywhere. This is all pretty thin soup.
